Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

I can swim but I'm not very fast, can I join the squad?

If you’re concerned come along to our Video & Stroke Correction Clinics. At these sessions you will great help with your stroke and the coach will let you know if you’re ready for squad training. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we will guide you through.

I'd love to swim in the sea but I'm too scared.

Like many people (especially those new to Australia) swimming in the ocean can be terrifying. At Sydney Swimmers, we’ll help you get over your fear with our Open Water Training session at Balmoral Beach. In these sessions, we cover safety and what to look for in the water. Most people have a fear of sharks – we do too! So we never swim at feeding time which is usually day break or dusk and we always swim in a group. Usually, most sharks are more scared of you than you are of them.

I didn't swim that well in my last triathlon can you help me?

We sure can. Initially, you should attend a Video & Stroke Correction Clinic, and then practice in the squad. Swimming takes time. It is the most technical of the three sports and requires slow swimming practice with drills as well as squad to improve cardio and swim fitness. You can always book a one on one private lesson. We’ve found that learning with a friend helps both of you improve faster. Feel free to bring a friend to squad.
